(Won't You Take Me To) Monkey Town
Just on the edge of town in Kyoto is Arashiyama. The touristy prefecture is famous for cherry blossoms in spring and brilliant orange maples in the fall. The timing wasn't right for either but no matter. We were there for the monkeys.
Brainwashed! (Or The Freedom Run 10K)
Children pick up your bad habits quickly. I'm glad they also seem to pick up the good ones. Emma and Henry ran their first "race" this 4th of July after I finished the Freedom Run 10K in Ladera Ranch.
Playgroup Picnic at O'Neill Regional Park
Last weekend we had a picnic with Marla and the kids' playgroup at O'Neill Regional Park. In all six families (12 adults, 25 kids and two dogs) got together to spend an evening hanging out in what passes for wilderness in Orange County.

Catch-up #1

Catch-up #1
Oh. My. I'm ashamed to admit what month these are from. I'll let you guess. There are some great shots of Emma and Henry playing in the pumpkin patch, petting animals at a petting zoo, a busted lip and driving trains on Granpa Northcutt's head.
Day 10: New Year's Eve
We had a relatively lazy New Year's Eve today. It seems as if we've been going non-stop thus far so it was a nice change of pace to lounge around all morning. No early-morning boat rides or submarines, no late night lu'aus to attend.

Day 5: I Saw Lava!

Day 5: I Saw Lava!
Volcanoes have been a life-long fascination of mine so you can imagine that I was excited to visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We arrived with just enough time for a few minutes in the Visitor Center and a short hike before hunting for flowing lava.

Day 3: Painted Church

Day 3: Painted Church
We spend the morning touring coffee farms and The Painted Church. The afternoon is spent frolicking at Ke'ei beach and ends with spectacular sunset. Who could ask for more?
Day 2: Place of Refuge
Today we visited Pu'uhonua o Honaunau, also called "Place of Refuge." This was a very sacred site for Hawaiians in ages past. In addition to learning a little Hawaiian history here we were also treated to our first turtle-spotting.

Day 1: Arrival

Day 1: Arrival
Our flight was delayed due to a "security breach" in Orange County and traffic from the Kona/Keahole airport was abysmal but we are here in Hawaii at last, our home for the next 12 days.

Berliner Dom

Berliner Dom
One of my favorite buildings in Berlin was the Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral). It was right across the river from our ultra-modern hotel and I like the juxtaposition of the old and the new. Surprisingly the cathedral is only 100 years old, finished right at the turn of the century.
rockin' with the donnas
We started out the weekend rockin' with The Donnas and ended up partying like a bunch of three year olds. It was awesome! Flipping through the channels before bed Saturday night we happened upon The Donnas performing on INHD. Being...

After our unborn child had its picture taken we decided to have ours taken, too. Near sunset we made our way to Corona Del Mar for a portrait session on the beach. A pro photographer would be shooting this time,...
Day 6 in Gothenburg I finished putting up my photos from the trip to Gothenburg. These are all from our last full day in Sweden. We had finished our work and were free to explore. We took a ferry...

gothenburg thus far

Day 1 in Gothenburg Sweden is cool. I've been here for three full days now and am having fun. We're working very hard (12 - 14 hour days) but with 16 hours of sunlight it makes it a little...
So, I'm in Sweden! You read that right. 4200 miles from home in sunny SoCal. I'm here on business working on a project with our fine friends from <client name>. Who is <client name>? you are wondering? I'll tell you...

Emma Grace and Flo-Jo

We visited Florence Joyner Olympiad Park in Mission Viejo for the first time last week. As I learned at the park, Flo-Jo was a Mission Viejo native and the park sits along the route used for many of the cycling...

The Flu - How Fun!

Not. The entire Northcutt clan (west coast, anyway) has been battling the flu for the past two weeks. Marla and Emma both caught it while we were in Atlanta for the holidays. I left them there, giving them extra time...

August in Sunsets

We were blessed with lots of great sunsets in August. I, of course, tried to capture them on "film." Also put up a few shots of Emma helping me put together a bookshelf. August in sunsets Emma builds a bookshelf...
