It's not often that we get visitors out here on the lonely, smoky West Coast. We were very excited, then, when Aunt Dot paid us a visit earlier this summer. This was the first time that Emma and Henry had met a "great" on Marla's side of the family.
Henry and Emma had been to a birthday party not too long before and had gotten waterguns as party favors. Watching kids with their first waterguns is a treat, let me tell you. Henry had a great time, not only squirting me but also himself!

I introduced Emma and Henry to Mister Rogers this week. We've grown a little tired of Blue's Clues over the past few months. And by "we" I mean Marla and I.
We had a visit from Marla's parents during which we celebrated Estelle's Leap Day birthday. You'll find some pictures from a princess party Emma attended as well as a our first plays with the magical Wii.
My father happened to be in town for my birthday this year so the whole clan went out for a fancy fondue dinner at the new Melting Pot in San Clemente. The kids behaved well and really enjoyed themselves... even more so when the chocolate fondue came out for desert!
After recovering from their bout with the flu, Granma and Granpa were ready for more fun with the kids. We returned to the farm for one last visit, this time down to the banks of the Broad River. We ended the day by having dinner with an old friend.
We made chocolate ice cream the other week and, as you can see, the kids seemed to enjoy it. It was the first time we'd attempted making chocolate and it turned out fairly well. I think that Emma and Henry would have enjoyed it either way!
Marla quietly had a birthday in August. Emma and Henry helped me make a cake early in the morning. (How much they helped vs. how much they ate is a matter up for debate.) We ended the day at Disneyland with some spectacular fireworks.
